Project Based Learning - The New Deal Programs Poster Project
This week you are going to spend some time researching different federal programs created as part of Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.
You will be assigned a New Deal organization to research.
You need to make a poster which highlights the program.
The classroom will be transformed into a “New Deal Museum” and you can check out your classmates’ posters.
You will be responsible for the basic information on each poster so please do your best to be clear.
Your task is two-fold:
1. The Poster: Your poster should advertise your assigned program in a way that grabs the viewers’ attention. Posters should be carefully done and aesthetically pleasing - paper and markers are available. All information on the poster must be in a large font. Your poster should also include multiple images that illustrate the activities of your New Deal organization and help the viewer understand the purpose of the program.
2. The Notes: Answers to the questions below should be typed up neatly for the class. I will pass around the lap tops and you should type answers to the questions. Notes will be posted on the website as a study aid. Your notes should answer the following questions:
a. What were the goals and purpose of the organization? (Consider why it established and what problem it was seeking to address.)
b. What were the successes of the organization? What did it accomplish?
c. What were some of the failures and criticisms of the organization?
General Suggestions: • There is basic information on each of the organizations in the textbooks in the classroom as well as in the research you did for homework; however, this is a research project and you must go above and beyond the information provided to you and fully answer the required questions.
